Gelner Gıda, which exports gelatin from Gonen to Europe, America, Russia, Southeast Asia and China, participated in the 8th Halal Expo Fair this year. Board member of Gelner Gıda Serhat Uğur Başyiğit emphasized that the SMIIC Technical Committee published new gelatin standards at the fair and that this development is of great importance for the sector.
Serhat Uğur Başyiğit, Board Member of Gelner Gıda, participated in the 8th OIC Halal Expo and 7th World Halal Summit organized in cooperation with the Islamic Trade Development Center (ICDT), Islamic Countries Standards and Metrology Institute (SMIIC) and Discover Events. In fair, Başyiğit stated that the fair and the summit will make a great contribution in terms of providing access to the markets.
Continuing to evaluate the fair and the summit, Başyiğit stated; “In actuality this year, there is a very important innovation this year. In the light of the summits held in the past years, the SMIIC Technical Committee convened and published the new gelatin standards. For this, the 8th Organization of Islamic Cooperation Halal Expo and the 7th World Halal Summit are of great importance for us in terms of providing access to new markets with our products complying with halal standards in gelatin production, closely following sectoral developments and increasing the volume of halal certified trade. We think that the negotiations to be held at the Fair and Summit will pave the way for the use of gelatin in the halal market to become widespread in areas such as yogurt, medicine and cosmetics. Unfortunately, our country is not in the place it deserves in the Halal market. Of course, the Halal Expo and the 7th World Halal Summit, organized under the auspices of the Presidency, offer a great opportunity for the growth of the world halal market this year as well as for our country to take the place it deserves in this market, as in previous years.”
Stated talking about the accomplishments they have achieved as a company, Başyiğit stated, “As Gelner Gıda, we carry out all our work as the only producer company in Turkey with the halal certificates we have. By producing leaf gelatin of animal origin, powdered gelatin and its derivatives suitable for halal food for the first time in the world and in Turkey, we have contributed to the closing of the current account deficit by producing a raw material that our country is an importer and halal gelatin production, which is of great importance for 4 billion Muslims. We have contributed to the production of foods that are suitable for your sensitivity, and we will continue to do so. Raising the awareness of consumers about pork and beef gelatin is also of great importance on this issue,"
